Dr. Nadia Bahramnejad and Dr. Haley Wilson may recommend a dental crown if your tooth is damaged. This restorative treatment works to give you back a healthy, beautiful smile and to protect your tooth from sustaining additional damage.

Dental crowns (caps) are a restorative treatment recommended for teeth that have sustained significant damage or decay. Crowns are custom-made to fit your teeth and smile perfectly, and cover the entire tooth from the gumline onwards to restore the original shape of the tooth. After a crown is placed it will look and feel exactly like your original tooth, restoring the strength and appearance of the tooth as well as your oral health and smile.

Our dentists may recommend a dental crown to:

  • Restore a damaged tooth
  • Protect and restore a tooth following a root canal treatment
  • Attach a dental bridge to adjacent teeth to anchor it in place
  • Cap an implant post to complete your treatment and finish replacing a missing tooth
  • Improve the appearance of misshapen teeth
  • Strengthen a fractured or weakened tooth
  • Support a tooth with a large filling and minimal remaining natural tooth structure
  • Enhance the appearance of your smile

When you receive a dental crown plan on two visits to our office to complete your treatment. At the first visit our dentists and team will take impressions and prepare your tooth to receive the crown. A temporary crown may be used to protect your tooth until the final crown is completed. The impressions and information for your crown will then be sent to a dental lab for the crown to be completed. At our office we work with a local lab to whom we pay a premium and with whom we have developed a close relationship. This allows us to ensure that your crown will meet the highest standards of excellence and quality.

After your crown is completed, you will return for your second appointment, and our dentists will check that the crown fits properly before bonding it permanently into place.
