A Different Kind of Dentistry

Katy Trail Dental, the practice of Dr. Dominique Fufidio, is not your average Dallas dental office. Yes, we offer everything you’d expect from a general and cosmetic dentist's office, but our passionate focus on personalized care and patient comfort sets us apart — and helps our patients to feel at ease — whether they are here for a checkup or a root canal.

We’re not just passionate about teeth. (Yes, we admit that we love teeth.) We’re also passionate about people. To us, providing an experience that brings a smile to your face is just as important as making sure your smile is healthy and beautiful.

Dr. Dominique Fufidio relocated to Texas from New York in 2012, when she accepted an offer to attend the prestigious Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Baylor’s School of Dental Medicine in Dallas. Preferring the warmth of Texas charm over New York winters, Dr. Fufidio chose to make Dallas her home.

Before, during and after her residency, Dr. Fufidio constantly strove to increase her knowledge through continuing education, seminars and practical work experience. She is a 2016 recipient of the Fellowship Award with the Academy of General Dentistry (a prestigious award presented to less than 5% of dentists), is an active member of numerous dental societies including the Dallas County Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association and their Texas branches; the Texas Academy of General Dentistry and Texas Dental Association.  She is an active participant in multiple community and networking groups and serves as a peer reviewer for the Academy of General Dentistry's print publications.

Dr. Fufidio is sedation certified and Invisalign©, ZoomWhitening©, Botox© trained. She and her office staff pride themselves on excellence in dentistry, patient comfort and customer service.

Outside the office Dr. Fufidio is a nationally ranked competitive weightlifter (she may be little — but she’s tough), weightlifting Coach, former gymnast, cyclist and yogi, loyal friend, and a loving daughter, sister, dog momma and wife.

We are pleased to welcome Emily to our Dental Home!  Emily was born and raised in East Texas where her HUGE, close-knit, family still resides.  Emily’s mother has 7 siblings and she herself has two older (protective) brothers that all live in Tyler, TX.  In 2013 Emily relocated to Dallas to pursue her Biology degree at UT Dallas with intentions of going to Dental School in the future.  Her boyfriend, Vincent, who actually put Emily in touch with Dr. Fufidio (THANKS VINCENT!  WE OWE YOU ONE!!) relocated shortly after.  While studying Emily was working out and working at Equinox when she fell into a part time position there, then a Nanny position, waitressed at the local Vietnamese restaurant and then fell into an Office Manager Position in a dental office all through her contacts at Equinox.  She is a little go-getter and social butterfly for sure.  It was about 2 years ago Emily took the plunge and pursued Dental Office Management full time.  Currently she plans to go back to school for Business although secretly she still aspires to pursue a modeling career (We just can’t tell Dad!).

Emily is a wealth of information and a breath of fresh air at KTD.  With her free time she enjoys visiting home more often, working out, traveling to new places, shopping and fashion, loves her essential oils and eating all kinds of foods.  Welcome Emily!  We adore you and are happy to have you!

Jessica Hernandez, RDA

Our Lead Chairside Registered Dental Assistant

BGP_1493.jpg

We are thrilled to welcome the experienced and organized Ms. Jessica to our team!  This born and raised Dallasite started dental assisting in 2007 when she walked into the office where her childhood friend Carina was working.  Carina’s boss offered Jessica a job and since that moment Jessica immersed herself in everything dental.  She has been working for a handful of offices looking for the right fit and after the birth of her now four year old daughter, Melissa, Jessica considered returning to school for dental hygiene.  But, since joining Katy Trail Dental, we have been able to involve Jessica heavily in our hygiene department and protocols.  Jessica is beyond thrilled again to be dental assisting and it's a good thing because Dr. Fufidio and Jessica do truly make an incredible team!

Outside the office Jessica can be found swinging her hips at a concert with her husband of 5 years, Jose Luis, or spending time with the very extended family.  Jessica and Jose have an extensive Dallas based family consisting of mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews galore!  The weekends and holidays become big family To Do’s at either Jessica’s mother’s house or her sister-in-law’s.  The Hernandez family loves watching football and baseball.  It’s no surprise they can be found rooting for the Rangers and Cowboys.  Jessica absolutely loves authentic Mexican cuisine so the hardest question you can ask her is, “So what’s the best taco joint in Dallas?”  If she has to answer, she will say Fito’s in Oak Cliff but she has many others she goes to when she is craving a very specific type of taco!  Welcome to the team Jessica.  Bienvenidos!

Madison English, RDH

OUR REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST

madison-english.png

The spunky Ms. Madison English is fresh out of Huntsville, Texas, located near Houston, where she left 50 acres of land and nights of cow tipping to enjoy the Dallas city lights.  Madison grew up the daughter of a dentist who never pressured her to pursue a career in dentistry, but did assure her she would make a phenomenal hygienist which he could not have been more right about!  Madison chose the dental field, and specifically dental hygiene, as she wanted to really build a relationship with her patients. Being raised in dentistry, she noticed the increased amount of time she would have with her patients when serving as their dental hygienist and this is what motivated her to go for it! Madison went to Texas A&M and then enrolled in a vigorous, two year long, dental hygiene program.  That is almost twice the length of other programs!

Madison made the move to Dallas to live with her cousin.  Outside the office these two enjoy exploring Dallas.  This includes trying new breweries, eating Mexican food, especially tacos from Torchy’s, listening to live music.  Madison’s cousin is a Vet Tech and this is extremely helpful as Madison has the biggest dog we have ever seen, Captain!  Madison has done several service project mission trips with her church and enjoys travel, the most memorable destinations so far have been Argentina and the Hawaiian islands.

We love the energy she brings, how she embodies our mission statement and values and she enjoys really getting to know our patients personally at their dental hygiene visits.

Teresa Gomez, RDA

OUR Second DENTAL AssistanT

Teresa was born and raised right here in Dallas. She is so lucky because her Mother, Father and 3 older brothers and older sister all chose to stay around relocating only to surrounding areas. Teresa speaks with her mother daily and lives for her 6 year old son, Adam. Adam loves when mom takes him to Chuck E Cheese or to play in the great outdoors. He loves the park and flag football. He loves when mom makes him huevos con frijoles (eggs and beans for the gringos) and okra! Teresa travels back to Mexico monthly to be with family and loves listening to all kinds of music, or cherishing the silence of the moment. She loves frequenting the movies and being in good company. Friends would say if you need her she will drop everything to be there. She is kind, reliable and self-less for sure!

Teresa got into dentistry right out of school. She was in the dentist chair herself and told her family dentist she was interested in dentistry. He offered her a job on the spot (or in the seat I guess you could say). She started working for her dentist when Adam was only 3 weeks old she was so eager to get her career started! We are so happy we found Teresa to compliment our team. You’ll love her when you meet her!

Miriam Medina

Business Assistant and Patient Care Coordinator

Miriam was born and raised in Dallas where most of her family still lives. She is the youngest of 4 children, all still residing here. Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, there is no shortage in Dallas, and in Mexico. At the holidays, if her parents are in town, they have a BIG family get-together. If her parents are traveling, the siblings make an informal gathering a must. Miriam loves Christmas and the extended time to spend with her kids, and of course spoiling them with video games and toys although she really wants to just spend quality time with her son and daughter, going to the movies or watching movies at home. Big blockbuster movies, animated movies, anything that isn’t too frightening, they have seen it all!

Quality time is so important to Miriam as she moonlights as a student in Barber School. She reserves Saturday for her family day as she even commits Sundays to her schooling! Miriam started in dentistry early when her passion for dentistry was cultivated at her own orthodontic visits. She practiced as a dental assistant and was open to learning the front office details. She is now a natural at working the schedule and on the phone, in the office that is, because at home she is as far as she can be from her phone!

We love having Miriam at the office to share in the office love for Chick-Fil-A, tacos and Target. Life is pretty simple when you see enjoyment in good company, good food, family, friends, and smiling! Welcome to the team Miriam. Thank you for coming to our rescue and helping us deliver the quality care we wish to continue to deliver to our patients!
